Digital Cameras are Just a Click Away

By Harvin Gulfill

Tired of sending photographs through snail mail? Tired of the extra cost they charge you because of the bulk of photographs you sent? Tired of pictures getting damaged and lost in the mail? If you answered "YES" to those three questions, then you might need to consider checking out new digital cameras. With a digital camera, you can freeze your special moment and celebrate them with everybody so they won't miss out on the occasion. Sharing and getting feedback becomes even faster if you post them on the internet and the best thing about it is that they would never get damaged or lost.

Megapixel is one of these must know terms in buying digital cameras. A pixel is a point on the picture created. A megapixel means that image can have a million points on it. There are many concepts behind the pixel but the important thing you should know is that higher pixels would mean higher resolution and larger photographs developed. Here are some patterns of how big photos can be with megapixels:

One important term for the first time user who wants to buy a digital camera is the word megapixel. A pixel is a dot that comprises the photograph produced. A megapixel on the other hand is a million of those dots that comprise that photograph. Larger megapixels equal better resolution. They also mean bigger photographs can be produced. The pixel to photograph size ratio are:

Two Megapixels produces up to 4x6 inch photographs. Three Megapixels produces up to 5x7 inch photographs. Four Megapixels produces up to 6x8 inch photographs. Six Megapixels produces up to 7x10 inches. Eight Megapixels produces up to 10x14 inch photographs. Lastly, twelve Megapixels produces up to 16x24 inch photographs.

Don't forget to two accessories that are necessary for the use of digital cameras: the memory and the battery. The memory is equivalent to film and the larger the memory, the more the photographs and even videos you can take and store. Cameras are usually equipped with one but it never fails to have an extra one in handy in case you have to capture more moments! The extra battery ensures you can still snap pictures in case you lose power. You may get new ones or rechargeable ones.
