An Amazing Secret To Get A Pocket Camcorder Using Very Little Time Immediately

By Sharlene Hawkins

Firstly, make a list of what it is that you will most likely be recording with your pocket camcorder. Once you know what you will be using it for, it will be easier to sift through all the specifications and find the right one for you.

If you still have a VCR and enjoy using it to watch your home videos on then you might prefer an analog camcorder. Most prefer digital camcorders, as it allows you to edit the videos on a computer and it has a higher resolution. A good camcorder will have automatic and manual exposure features. This feature alters the amount of light allowed in when recording. The manual feature lets you control the amount of light allowed in depending on how dark or light the scene is.

Camcorders can save the recorded footage in 4 different formats. If it uses a drive like a flash card, you will need to download the files onto a computer regularly to make space for more images. The disc format stores files to a normal or mini sized DVD and the MiniDV format, which is used by most professionals, saves the images to a high definition video tape that can be transferred to a PC and edited. There are 2 types of lenses, a wide angle and a tele-extender. If you mostly record open areas like sporting events or school musicals, then the wide angle is best. The tele-extender is normally used by nature photographers, as it makes distant objects seem much closer.

Take note of the ports on the device. You will need one to transfer files to a computer, if you will be recording lots of functions like weddings then a port for a microphone will be useful as well. Do not be bowled over by all the additional features, most of them you will not even use. There are however very nifty extras like touch screen LCD screens and ones will installed digital effects.

The included batteries usually only last for an hour, so it is best to get a backup battery that has longer life. Make sure you are clued up on the stores return policy. This type of equipment does not come cheap, so it is good to know what kind of guarantee you will get as far as repairs and returns.

A great tip is to read reviews in photography magazines or try a few review websites. This should be very helpful. Make sure you are familiar with the vocabulary, so that you understand when you read these reviews or the pocket camcorder packaging or even when asking sales assistants about different models in the store.
