Advice On Wedding Photography Styles

By Mark Walters

Your wedding should be one of the best days of your life and you can immortalize the wonderful experience with some top wedding photography. But what kind of wedding photography should you go for - traditional or modern? Both of these options create great images and are sure to help you remember your special day with style, but they use different techniques and so create different effects. Choosing which one you want is an important decision as it can alter how you remember your day.

Traditional photography tends to condense everything down into a single picture-taking session, which is designed to capture your first moments as a married couple. It's also a good way of making sure everyone is in the photos, as they are generally staged just after the end of your wedding ceremony. Getting the photos sorted out early on in the day means that you can then just relax and enjoy the rest of your day, so traditional photography is a good option for a lot of people.

Modern wedding photography, by contrast, focuses more on capturing unguarded moments and 'action shots' than it does getting everyone to pose for pictures. This makes it more dynamic in style and can often go on for longer than traditional photography - some people think this is a good thing, while others aren't so keen. It is, though, a really good way of capturing touching moments and getting candid pictures that will help you remember your wedding day in a slightly different way.

It's important that you know what you actually want from your photos when you're choosing between traditional and modern wedding photography. You need to make sure your photographer will fit in with the arrangements you already have, so think about how the rest of the wedding has been setting and which type of photography would go better with that. Thinking about your own personal style will also help you make the right decision as it will help you identify whether you want something formal or more relaxed.

Finally, you should always make sure you get exactly what you want. After all, it's your wedding and, no matter whether you go for modern or traditional photography, a good photographer will be able to cater for you. Tell them exactly what you want so they can design their photography in accordance with your wishes and get it perfectly right. Remember that different styles of photography create different effects in terms of lighting, for example, so bear this in mind when choosing.
