George Clooney: The Name says it All

George Clooney, the heartthrob of millions over the world turned 49 on 6th of May. His full name being George Timothy Clooney, he spent over a decade in the television industry before rising to fame with his portrayal of paediatrician Doug Ross on the popular TV series ER where his role was appreciated by all changing the course of his career. Having won an Oscar and 2 Golden Globe awards along with 6 nominations in Bafta he also did his bit as a social worker serving as one of United Nations Messengers of Peace. He has also been named as the sexiest man alive twice by People Magazine.

George Clooney was born in Lexington, Kentucky where he got to spend his childhood days being close to the camera. His father worked as a news anchor and as a TV game show host for a long time. Getting his first meeting with the camera at the age of just 5, he decided from then on that he wanted to work with this camera for the rest of his life and make his career in this field, be it in front of the camera or behind it. Playing diverse roles ranging from detective to handyman to a construction work he never managed to make a mark in the television industry after he started his career in the year 1978. Started his career with roles as an extra he appeared in his first major role in the year 1984 in a sitcom.

However his luck changed when he was chosen to play the role of Dr. Doug Ross on the hugely popular and hit NBC drama 'ER' from 1994 to 1999. Clooney got into the film industry while he was still working in ER. His first major film project was his role in 'From Dusk till Dawn' after which there was no stopping him. After his first film, he appeared in different roles and starred in many commercially successful films. His internationally hit film Ocean's Eleven's success led to two sequels to this film, Ocean's Twelve and Ocean's Thirteen. All of the three movies were a grand success at the box office.

Trying his luck then behind the camera he made the directorial debut with his film Confessions of a Dangerous Mind which didn't create waves at the box office but he managed to create an impact as a director. He got good reviews for his direction from the critics and the audiences. In the year of 2005, he acted, produced and directed the film Good Night, and Good Luck which good response from both the box office and audiences. He also acted in a film Syriana in the same year for which he got the Oscar as the best actor in a supporting role. Now he is busy planning for his latest project called Suburbicon which is set to hit the theatres in the year 2012.

His most recent films released were "Men who looked at the goats" and "Up in the ai" for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe, BAFTA, Oscar and Screen Actors Guild Awards. Having had a life is not married Talia Balsam in 1989 -1993, he never promised to marry again. After the divorce, had a number of things and is now with Elisabetta Canalis 2009.

He didn't have a success with his married life getting divorced from Talia Balsam in the year 1993 having been married for just over 3 years.
